When Joslyn and Bryan re-made their back yard last summer, they had some left over flagstone. And they offered it to us; we are 100% grateful to have it! We borrowed their mantis (which is a totally kickass landscaping tool, btw) this weekend and got to work. So our Sunday consisted of 2 trips to… Continue reading Flagstone Patio – Part 1

Pardon-A-Me
Hey. I’m re-doing some stuff on my site right now. There shouldn’t be any major (fingers crossed) interruptions. So don’t freak out. It’s a live re-theme… with help from the Lynda.com course Responsive Themes for WordPress. It’s a skill I have been tinkering with. And it’s nice to have an instructor lead me through the… Continue reading Pardon-A-Me
Millenium – Deep Ellum
While waiting for Neil’s band to play the other night, I took a walk down the street and found this cool resale shop named Millenium. It’s a neat little place with lots to offer. Sadly, I only had enough time to take a few quick picks. The range of light and colors in this shop… Continue reading Millenium – Deep Ellum
Neil’s Curtain Club Show
I have shot a few videos of Neil now. He’s easy to shoot because he just does his thing, requires no re-takes, and he’s stupid-good at what he does. This was a no-pay project, but hey, that’s okay. It’s good to get out there and practice the craft nonetheless. Gear Used Manfrotto tripod w/ video… Continue reading Neil’s Curtain Club Show
Pecan Pesto Pasta
Easy pesto pasta makes for a great weeknight dinner or simple weekend treat.
Late Summer Hops Harvest
The Dallas summer heat is in full force. Even though I had the hops plants located on the East side of the house (more late afternoon shade) the have still wilted and turned gangly. I’m feeling good about the low yield of cones nonetheless. With potential mosquito aerial spraying in the works, and with the… Continue reading Late Summer Hops Harvest
Hops Update
I shot this photo a couple of weeks ago. And now that I’m out of the woods on a massive work project, I’m finally getting around to posting this picture. So this was shot June 23rd (ish). Yesterday I added expanded shale and compost to all of my beds. The soil is so loose and… Continue reading Hops Update
We Can Pickle That
At one point, we had so many cucumbers that we didn’t know what to do with them. Correction. We know what to do with them. We pickle that! I looked up a few recipes for fridge pickles and tweaked to make it my own. It’s not precise… and that’s the nice part.
Hops Growth – 7 Weeks
The cascade and chinook hops I ordered from Homebrew Headquarters are doing great… other than some pesky teeny tiny black caterpillars that keep munching on some of the leaves. They have made excellent progress over the past 7 weeks. The image in this post shows first sprout up to May 31, 2012. I’m not sure… Continue reading Hops Growth – 7 Weeks
Garden Update – May 4, 2012
Everything is growing good. There are several small cucumbers starting to grow, along with a whole bunch of little baby burpless hybrid cucs too. The hops plants have some sort of snail who has been visiting and munching on the leaves. Dang, if I can only catch that snail… I’m still waiting for one of… Continue reading Garden Update – May 4, 2012
