Lots of things going on at the house this weekend. The fence is officially 60% complete, and we are super excited to see it all come together. I took off early on Friday and installed 2 3′X3′ steel raised beds. The tomato plants look like they are struggling. I may need to tweak the soil [...]
Yes, I understand that it’s April Fool’s day. But I’m posting this anyways. Whatever! Now that the posts are in on the East side, pickets are going up. I think they’re going to finish the rest of the posts over the weekend and try to finish one or two sides with pickets.

Today marked more progress on our fence project. I pitched in on post and picket staining work. Now that the back posts are in, the backyard is finally starting to feel like it has a boundary, a defined space.

Willie and Martín arrived yesterday and did some fence post work. Since we’re building our fence up against the neighbor’s falling-down janky fence, we have to pre-stain some of the wood. We have contracted with Erin’s co-workers (who work full-time jobs, so they work when they can) to build a fence. I will post pictures as work continues over the next few weeks. Some time during the two mega ice storms, we lost our succulent plants. It’s sad to see any plants keel over. We had them covered with a towel, but our plants lost the battle to the bitter cold. We are still figuring out what to bring inside when it freezes. Rookie move!
