Neil Swanson – Guitar

I shot this a few weekends ago and finally got the edit done. Neil asked for a documentary-style approach, where he could talk about his passion – what he does, how he picked up guitar, and how he makes a living doing it.

I’m happy with the way that this piece turned out. The color isn’t exactly perfect, but I’m no color correction snob. Enjoy!

New Pendant Light

We got a good deal on this beautiful Stonegate pendant light. It fits perfectly in the space, and with our sense of style. I’m very excited to have Robin and Keynan visiting – they are very handy and have made so many cool changes in our home in the past few days.

I gave a wacky design a shot this year. It didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted, and it was a late-night carving session after a huge dinner. So I was tired. Nonetheless, it looks cool!

ModMen Party

Erin helped host a ModMen part with Rachael from Deer Dallas this past June. I put a video together while at the party and never got the go-ahead to post it. We were waiting and waiting for DeerDallas to go live. But no progress – eeek! I saw that the photos from the event were posted to FB the other day, so now I’m releasing the video in its current state. It needs some tweaking (Rachael asked for some minor changes), but seeing as this was a pro bono effort, and I’m short on free time right now, I’m going to leave it as-is and move on. Enjoy!

Mozzarella Pesto Pizza

More no-knead pizza action last night. The veggie pizza was good, but the mozzarella pesto pizza turned out amazing.

Mozzarella Pesto Pizza
- 1 batch of no-knead pizza dough (see Jim Lahey’s method here).
- pine nuts
- 3 bunches of basil
- Parmesan cheese, grated
- mozzarella cheese (the fresh kind), sliced
- olive oil

Pesto:
Combine olive oil, 1tsp parmesan cheese, 1/2 cup pine nuts in a blender or food processor. Add a pinch of salt and pepper, add oil and blend until it reaches the consistency you like.

After you get the dough ready, stretch it out on a lightly-oiled cookie sheet. Spread out the pesto evenly on the dough. Then place sliced mozzarella on top.

Bake for 20-25 minutes at 500 degrees.

Denver Photo Trip

Erin and I shot Eben and Rachel’s wedding this past weekend in Denver. I’m excited how this photo turned out. Stay tuned… more later. Lots of re-touching to do (Rachel busted a blood vessel in her eye… so it’s going to be lots of tweaking).

Rachel belongs to a roller derby team. The skates were a must-have.

Fried Green Tomatoes

I pulled a few rutgers tomatoes before they turned the slightest bit yellow. That’s okay, though, because they turned in to killer fried tomatoes. Erin served these excellent greenies with a yogurt sauce, along with a blueberry sauce-smothered pork chop and roasted cauliflower.

In other news, I bought some 6-foot bamboo poles and green twine today to help support some of the tomato plants.
