I have shot a few videos of Neil now. He’s easy to shoot because he just does his thing, requires no re-takes, and he’s stupid-good at what he does. This was a no-pay project, but hey, that’s okay. It’s good to get out there and practice the craft nonetheless.
Gear Used

- Zacuto Z-finder
- Canon 7D w/ 24-105L f4
- Zoom h4n, mounted on top of the Canon
Notes
I haven’t been to Curtain Club in a long, long time. I guess my tastes have changed. Regardless, they still have great sound quality there. Every time I see a show there I am reminded of this fact. I shot the first few on a tripod. I took a one-song break, no realizing that his set was super-short. Shame on me. Then for the last two songs I shot hand-held. It’s difficult to end up with decent footage if you’re only shooting on one camera AND you want to get more personal, up-close, free-hand footage. I probably would have put a camera on the balcony and used it as the main wide shot. But it is what it is.
