I took a half-day from work on Monday of this week to continue the gate project. It was cool and rainy out, so why not build stuff in the rain, right?
So the Titan Post Anchor seems to be holding up nicely. And shame on me: there’s a small detail about the post anchors that I overlooked. I assumed that our sidewalk was level. Nope. Each of the posts is leveled. The fence-side post is leveled with a picket just sort of janked in there. For the other post, I combined a few large washers and tucked them in under 2 sides of the post anchor. So while it wasn’t a total deal-breaker, the post-leveling effort made for an interesting wrinkle in the project.
Lessons Learned:
- Always level. Everything. Always. Don’t ever assume a surface is level.
- When in doubt, buy a new carbide-tipped masonry bit.
