Okay, okay. I neglected to factor in the recent daylight savings time change. The project got stretched out over a couple weeks. I even took a half-day off last week to wrap up the first half of the build. I finished the main gate build this past Sunday and it’s looking passable! After a small… Continue reading Gate is 99.9% Complete

Gate Update
I took a half-day from work on Monday of this week to continue the gate project. It was cool and rainy out, so why not build stuff in the rain, right? So the Titan Post Anchor seems to be holding up nicely. And shame on me: there’s a small detail about the post anchors that… Continue reading Gate Update
Gate Plans
So Erin and I adopted a dog from Operation Kindness and he is a lovely little devil. And up to this point, we have left our fence in its current state. Because we did not require a completely gated-in back yard, we left it open on one side. And it has been great… up to… Continue reading Gate Plans
Benches
Last week I completed a refinish job on a couple of benches. We got these benches from the old location of Matt’s El Rancho in Lakewood. When they closed, the offered up a ton of furniture at fire sale prices. The benches were great! One was yellow and the other one was bright pink. All… Continue reading Benches
Flagstone Patio – Part 1
When Joslyn and Bryan re-made their back yard last summer, they had some left over flagstone. And they offered it to us; we are 100% grateful to have it! We borrowed their mantis (which is a totally kickass landscaping tool, btw) this weekend and got to work. So our Sunday consisted of 2 trips to… Continue reading Flagstone Patio – Part 1
Garden Update – May 4, 2012
Everything is growing good. There are several small cucumbers starting to grow, along with a whole bunch of little baby burpless hybrid cucs too. The hops plants have some sort of snail who has been visiting and munching on the leaves. Dang, if I can only catch that snail… I’m still waiting for one of… Continue reading Garden Update – May 4, 2012
Succulents – April 2012
I think it was about a month ago when I picked up some new succulent plants from Northhaven Gardens (which is my favorite nursery in Dallas, btw) to fill in the gaps around the plants that lost their fight from last summer’s drought. This time around, I wanted to see what sorts of succulents would… Continue reading Succulents – April 2012
Planter Boxes & Starter Plants
It rained CATS AND DOGS most of the weekend. So I got busy building out a whole new set of planter boxes. We still had left-over cedar hanging around the house from when we built the fence, so other than the price of a few boes of fasteners, these planters were built on the cheap!… Continue reading Planter Boxes & Starter Plants
Yuccas, Cedar Raised Beds, and Backyard Arranging
This weekend Erin and I did some re-arranging in the back yard. We also made a trip to Ruibal’s and cashed in on our gift card (thank you to my parents). I also made 3 2’x2′ planters using left-over cedar from our fence project. The pink and yellow benches are from Matt’s El Rancho. They… Continue reading Yuccas, Cedar Raised Beds, and Backyard Arranging
New Pendant Light
We got a good deal on this beautiful Stonegate pendant light. It fits perfectly in the space, and with our sense of style. I’m very excited to have Robin and Keynan visiting – they are very handy and have made so many cool changes in our home in the past few days.
